About Ethical Systems

Ethical Systems help organisations safely adopt AI and drive innovation. Our approach is practical, human-centred and grounded in the realities of complex human and technology systems.
We work to connect strategy, governance and delivery — supporting you and your teams to move from ideas to outcomes with clarity and confidence.
We shape technology and AI strategy, establish governance and guardrails, and work with you to design and implement solutions that deliver real value.
Our approach is designed to adapt technology for real organisations, cultures and systems, delivering successful change even in messy, dynamic contexts.
We are committed to building ethical, safe and inclusive services and systems.
How we work
Ethical Systems work directly with a small number of organisations at a time, typically in a hands-on advisory or embedded capacity.
Engagements are tailored — from short diagnostic pieces through to ongoing support — depending on what will create the most value.
We bring a combination of strategic perspective and practical experience, and work closely with leaders and teams to build shared understanding, make clear decisions, and move forward in a way that is both effective and sustainable.
We love unpacking complexity! Where there is complexity, uncertainty or competing priorities — we help organisations balance innovation and risk, ambition and delivery.

About Jane
Jane is a technology and transformation leader with experience spanning executive leadership (CIO, CTO, CPTO), product and platform development, and complex organisational change.
Recently, as CIO at Goodstart Early Learning, she led the development of a five-year Technology, Data & AI strategy and reshaped governance to support safe, effective innovation in a highly complex environment.
Jane also helped build Leap in! from a startup social enterprise into an award-winning, profitable organisation supporting over 10,000 participants nationally through the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
She now works through Ethical Systems to support organisations navigating technology, AI and innovation, while also contributing to community impact through her role on the board of Human Nature, and as a business mentor for Merivale Studios.
Jane is passionate about inclusive design, agile innovation, servant leadership and the ethical navigation of the AI revolution.
Other Interests
Jane and her husband Phil live at Samsara Farm where they run a B&B farm-stay, share excess produce from their permaculture orchard and kitchen gardens with Liberation Larder, and enjoy spotting koalas and other wildlife who visit their bush regeneration project. They host occasional musical events on the property, supporting local musicians and restaurants. Jane is a keen student of Japanese and Mandarin and an amateur muso.
Our Logo

Ethical Tech’s logo, the steampunk bee, is based on the beautiful blue-banded bee, found on blue flowers at Jane's beautiful home in Northern NSW. This is where her partner Phil practices bush regeneration, regenerative gardening and bee-keeping.
While the Ethical Systems bee is an engineered machine, it is also an organic creature, operating in a natural world of complex and ever-evolving systems. In the same way Ethical Systems recognises that developing productive technology systems is a blend of science - engineering excellence, logic and data-driven decision making and nature - human psychology driving change and experience, evolving systems and adapting to the unpredictable.
